CHOICE OF COLD CATHODE LIGHTING SYSTEMS
1) High Voltage - (1000 - 10000 Volts)
Primarily used for outdoor lighting, signage or large displays. It is also possible for this system to be used for indoor lighting in certain circumstances. However it is a requirement that a fireman’s switch is provided and special circuit protection is fitted to the transformer (not a popular choice for indoor use). Normally limited to 25, 37 and 50 milliamps output.
2) Low Voltage - meaning less than 1000 Volts.
These low voltage transformers come in a variety of milliamp ratings from 25 milliamp to 225 milliamp. There are two options available, electromagnetic transformers or electronic transformers.
Electromagnetic transformers are specially made to our design and are rugged and reliable. They can be located up to 60 metres remote from the tubing they control and are fully dimmable. These units are normally supplied in 100ma or 225 ma twin output transformers capable of powering 2 tubes of approx 2m each.
Electronic transformers are available with 75 milliamp ,150 milliamp or 200 milliamp outputs. These transformers are small and lightweight but must be located immediately next to the tubing they control and the 75ma & 150ma units are dimmable.
3a) Hi-Life (Electromagnetic)- 850 Volts with a 450 milliamp rating
These ballast units are also rugged and reliable. They can be located up to 60 metres remote from the tubing they control but they are not dimmable.
3b) Hi-Life (Electronic)- 850 Volts with a 450 milliamp rating
These transformers are slimline and lightweight and are designed to suit installation into troughs , coffers and light fittings but they must be located immediately next to the tubing they control but they are not dimmable.
